LitWits brings great books to life in sensory ways, so kids will want to read more!

ACTIVITY IDEAS from the LitWits experience:

It was so rewarding to monkey around in this story — and pick up life lessons, history, Ozark geography, vocab, and writing tips too!

From the LitWits Workshops experience of Summer of the Monkeys by WIlson Rawls We depicted the narrator’s memory as cover art, listened to “Sally Gooden” and other Ozark fiddle music, crafted Rawls-ish similes, ate huckleberry pie that would “put muscles on a grapevine,” used low-tech materials to build (humane) monkey traps, recreated the clay face Daisy made of another great healer, and so much more!

Want YOUR students to have meaningful fun with Summer of the Monkeys?  The LitWits Kit  is coming soon!  Includes project, activity and prop ideas, takeaway topics, and printables with keys. Sign up to find out when it’s available (and you’ll get a free gift!).
