LitWits brings great books to life in sensory ways, so kids will want to read more!
ACTIVITY IDEAS from the LitWits experience:
In this workshop we discovered what makes tornadoes spin, what green courage tastes like, and what Mr. Baum might have meant by “the yellow brick road.” To visually represent the theme, we combined the main characters in one “Dotty the Tin ScareLion” using key symbols. We also took a look at the world through green-tinted spectacles (which we created, wizard-like), wrote more accurate directions to the Emerald City, and decoded new words by their “setting.” Most importantly, we learned that we, like Dorothy and her friends, already “have what we need to succeed.” And more!
