Writing Courses

Semester-length courses in which we'll analyze a work for structure, syntax, and style, then have kids emulate those works to build confidence and skills. Taught via Zoom by the highly acclaimed Lisa Craddock, for ages 10+.

  • $425 or 4 monthly payments of $106.25

Beginning Essay Writing - Spring 2026

We’ll write a group essay together at first, learning through fun, hands-on activities that help concepts “stick.” Once the basics are down, we'll continue to work collaboratively and independently as each student works on mastering the essay structure and practicing "writing as a process." Thursdays beginning 1/29/26, for ages 10+.

  • $425 or 4 monthly payments of $106.25

Intermediate Essay Writing - Spring 2026

In Intermediate Essay Writing, we'll review the structure of the five-paragraph essay—its importance and parts. Then we'll build upon that knowledge while exploring new essay genres. By the end of the semester, students will have valuable experience writing three new types of essays. Thursdays beginning 1/29/26. See details for prerequisites.

  • $425 or 4 monthly payments of $106.25

Creative Writing Practice - Spring 2026

Students will learn style and technique from favorite, kid-friendly authors, then put their own unique, creative twist on that masterful writing. We choose new works to study and emulate each semester, so fresh skills and styles are absorbed. Tuesdays beginning 1/27/26, for ages 10+.

Testimonials

Here's some affirmation from some absolutely wonderful moms and teachers.

Just wanted to say a quick "Thank you so much!" for all the hard work, creativity, and passion you put into these classes.  The kiddos all love LitWits so much. Every time we start a new read-aloud chapter book, the first thing they ask is "Is this a LitWits book?"  If the answer is "yes" they cheer, if the answer is "not this time" they are visibly disappointed. We just want you to know that what you are doing matters!  You are making a difference for our children!  In a world that seems to be falling apart, you are a light in the dark. We really appreciate all you do!

My kids both said unequivocally: “I want to do that again.” I was worried that it might be a little too schooly for my PTSD (post-traumatic school disorder) kids–sitting still, worksheets–but you guys clearly made it fun and engaging.  Thank you for that. They spent the rest of the day writing and drawing on their [Anne of Green Gables  handmade] slates. ..If you could keep my tree-climbing, non-writing, head-in-the-clouds little guy interested, you must be doing something right.

You really have created such a wonderful program for kids. Even when my daughter goes back to school I will have her miss those hours so that we can do these programs with you because I feel that they are invaluable! I can’t thank you enough for the magic they create and the enthusiasm for reading that they generate.

I don't know how you do it! Today's class was unbelievable!  There was a surprise at every turn and so much about literature to learn! I am so thankful for your creativity and your passion for teaching. I cannot fathom how you put all of that together for the price that you did.

Wow, I am so glad I took a chance and tried your live workshop today. My son loved it and learned so much. I was happy he was willing to share his writing and that you gave him quality feedback. I am a homeschooling mom of many years who loves literature!  I also am a CA credentialed English teacher currently working for [a charter school] with independent study homeschooling families. I will definitely be recommending your workshops and materials.
